Hi there, 1,600 signatures, thank you so much for all of your support.

Today, I’m really excited to announce the launch of a new podcast called

The first couple of episodes are now live on iTunes and here’s how to listen in…

If you have an iPhone, iPad or PC/Mac with iTunes, this link will take you to the iTunes Store where you can subscribe so each new episode will download automatically…

Or you can also listen and download each episode here on any device…

From this point on, I will be releasing a new episode each Tuesday. If you like the podcast, please leave us a review in iTunes.

Please feel free to share these links as widely as you can so we can get as many listening as possible. If you like the podcast, please leave us a review in iTunes as it helps to get more people listening.

I also still need people to interview for the podcast so please contact me if you wanted to tell your story on
feedback@jfmoore.co.uk. Interviews are audio only via Skype and you can be anonymous of you wanted to.

Thank you, as always, for your signatures and support.

I want to interview you!

As we approach 1,500 signatures again I want to say thank you, you’re amazing.

Also, I’m posting this because I need your help with a little project. I am in the early stages of putting together a new audio podcast, which will discuss antidepressants and withdrawal. As part of the podcast, I want to interview people to get the real experiences of someone who has either tried to come off or who has stopped completely. As well as users experiences, I want to interview practitioners/professionals about the alternatives to the biomedical model of treatment and also about the worrying trend of increasing antidepressant prescribing.

What I need is a 20 minute slot to interview you via Skype, you could see the questions in advance and you can even be anonymous if you wanted to.

I have already interviewed Professor John Read and Dr. David Healy, amongst others. There is a huge amount of positive promotion of antidepressants out there, but very little which tells the real story. I want to help change the balance.

If you wanted to find out more, or you were interested in being interviewed, please email me on
feedback@jfmoore.co.uk I am planning on making the podcast available by mid to end of March. Thanks so much for your time, for your signatures and for your support.

1400 signatures

Since we have now achieved over 1,400 signatures, I wanted to celebrate with another update. Thank you, so much for your support it means a great deal.

In addition to the BBC Radio 5 Live programme that was transmitted on Sunday 12 Feb, the BBC put together short video clip from the show, please share this clip with your family, friends on Facebook or Twitter or by email. Depression and Anxiety are difficult things to discuss so openly but I am aware that there are many struggling who cannot talk about these things. This video has had over 7,700 views so far which is amazing, please share it as far as you can.

If anyone does want to listen to, or download, the entire programme, it can be found here…

So, once again thank you for your support, you are helping to make a real difference and awareness of withdrawal from prescription drugs is gradually increasing.

Happy New Year

I just wanted to wish you all Happy New Year, let’s hope that 2017 brings some real progress for the users of psychoactive medications.

We are now at just over 1,200 signatures so thank you for all your efforts. Please help by sharing my petition as widely as you can.

I also wanted to draw your attention to a recent interview I did as part of a package on antidepressant use, this excellent and informative piece was by Charlotte Veryard and can be found here…

Thank you for your support and signatures.

Six point plan

The British Medical Association is calling for a 24 hour, national helpline for people addicted to prescription drugs. This is a great first step but we could and should do more.

I have put together a simple, six point plan to make the prescribing of psychoactive drugs safer and easier for both patients and doctors. Please have a read and share this link if you agree, I’d like to raise as much awareness of this as I can.

Thank you, as always, for your help, support and signatures.

Happy Halloween!

Well we are now at 1,160 signatures, thank you so much to everyone for your support. I just wanted to provide a little update on progress and wish you a very spooky and fun Halloween.

Media bits and pieces

There has been a really flurry of media interest too recently, thanks in a large part to a few very brave individuals who are willing to share their stories.

In addition to the Victoria Derbyshire show on BBC 2, BBC Radio 5 live ran an item on addiction to prescription drugs which can be found here….

With a follow up item here…

Coverage on the BBC news website is here…

This week I have two interviews with journalists lined up, I am keeping my fingers crossed that we can get more media interest in this issue. If you feel up to it, tweet Louis Theroux
@louistheroux and tell him we need this issue investigating!

Education about Dangerous Medications in Australia

For any of you that are interested, there is a great deal of support for another petition taking off in Australia please consider signing this one too..

Compassionate approaches to mental health

Last, but certainly not least, there is a great event taking place in Cardiff on 18 November. This is a one day event looking at compassion in mental health treatment. I am attending, it would be lovely to meet you if you felt like going along too. More details here…

Once again, from myself and my family, a heartfelt thank you, you are helping to make a real difference. Please share this petition as far and wide as you can, there are still a great many suffering in silence and we need them on board.

Onwards and upwards.

1,100 signatures and the Victoria Derbyshire show

Thank you so much, we have now reached well over 1,100 signatures. Also thank you so much to anyone who took the time to contact the Victoria Derbyshire show, this was a great chance to raise awareness of the issues affecting users of antidepressants.

Here is a link to some edited highlights of the show, please share this video with anyone who you think may be interested.

Thank you so much, onwards and upwards! #taperingkits

1,000 signatures – a huge milestone

My family and I are so grateful to you for all for signing and supporting this important petition. Reaching 1,000 signatures demonstrates how many are struggling and that we need to take action that results in practical help for users of antidepressants. This community has been instrumental in raising awareness and I can’t thank you enough for your contribution.

I’m absolutely thrilled by the response so far but I want to press on, 1,000 supporters is fantastic but we need more. Please share this petition as widely as you can, share it on Twitter, share it on Facebook, share it on any groups or forums that you are a member of. Ask your family and friends to share it too. We need to demonstrate that this is an issue affecting many people who currently lack the support they need.

Thank you so much, onwards and upwards! #taperingkits

Campaign Aims and CeP

Hello all, thank you again so much for the feedback and for promoting the petition, it’s making a real difference and we are nearly at 950 signatures as I write.

I wanted to let you know that I now have some overall aims for the campaign to try and better explain to others what we are trying to do, briefly there are:

  1. Raise awareness of the difficulties users face when they want to stop taking psychoactive drugs.
  2. Encourage and support conversations between users, mental health professionals and policy-makers around this issue.
  3. Promote the idea of drug tapering kits and to encourage Pharmaceutical manufacturers to better support the users of their products.
Please continue to share the petition or my website among your family, friends and co-workers, even if others are not directly affected they probably know someone who is. If you have any ideas for further promotion then please do let me know.

Also, there is another important initiative which is well worth supporting, the Council for Evidence based Psychiatry (CEP) are asking people to write to their local MPs to raise the issue of dependence on prescription drugs. If this is something that you would like to do the following link will give you all the details…

Thank you.

There have been some updates to my campaign website too, I have added an faq for those of you who may want to know more about tapering kits.
